Softball Preview: Thornton Wildcats vs. Thornwood Thunderbirds
Thornton is 0-10 against Thornwood since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Thornton Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Thornwood Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m.
Thornton couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They suffered a rough 22-1 defeat at the hands of Thornton Fractional North on Monday. The loss means Thornton is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
Meanwhile, Thornwood's season-opener on Thursday wasn't quite what the team was looking for considering the end result. They and Blue Island Eisenhower finished up their game with an 11-11 tie. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Thornton might still be hurting after the 21-7 defeat they got from Thornwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2023.
