            Softball Recap: Lakeland Dreadnaughts vs. Haines City Hornets        
        
		
        
        
            Lakeland was handed a heart-breaking two-run  defeat in their last  match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Haines City  on Tuesday. The Dreadnaughts blew past the Hornets 15-2. The  win was a breath of fresh air for the Dreadnaughts as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
 Kennedy Davenport was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out 11 batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. She also put up a  double, which was her first of the season.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Brooke Martinez, who  scored four  runs and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances. Those  four  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high.  Paige Bettcher was another key player,  scoring four  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances.
 Lakeland  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .625. They are  a perfect 3-0 when  they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Lakeland's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Haines City, they now  have a losing record of 4-5.
 Looking ahead, Lakeland will take on Lake Gibson at 7:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Dreadnaughts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 8.5  runs per game this season. As for Haines City, they will face off against Ridge Community at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Hornets are facing the Bolts at the right time seeing as the Bolts are stuck on  a  ten-game losing streak.
