Recap: Halifax Academy Vikings vs. Rocky Mount Academy Eagles
The Halifax Academy Vikings struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Halifax Academy was outmatched by the Eagles on the road and fell 62-33. While losing is never fun, Halifax Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Eagles are ranked 89th).
Halifax Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Barlow, who scored eight points along with nine assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carolina Corum, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Rocky Mount Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Berkeley Miller, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taylor Carmichael, who scored 15 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Halifax Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Rocky Mount Academy, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Halifax Academy will take on the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brunswick Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games. As for Rocky Mount Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m.
