Softball Recap: Warren East's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Warren East dropped their record down to 18-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell 5-2 to the Barren County Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 back in April.

Warren East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Kaylee Jones was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

As for Barren County, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Barren County's side, Shea Bogue spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaitie Elmore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Josey Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warren East will head out to challenge Muhlenberg County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Barren County, they will challenge Allen County-Scottsville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
