Softball Game Preview: Springfield Millers vs. Eagle Point Eagles

For the second straight game, Springfield will face off against Eagle Point. The Millers will welcome the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Springfield has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Springfield fell victim to Eagle Point and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Eagles.

For Eagle Point's part, Brylee Leonardo looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Leonardo has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sarah Estes was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Madisyn Dean was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Eagle Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matches.

Springfield dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Eagle Point, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
