Basketball Game Preview: Avon Park Red Devils vs. Moore Haven Terriers

The Avon Park Red Devils will take on the Moore Haven Terriers in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Avon Park has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Moore Haven will come in with three straight wins.

Last Monday, Avon Park came up short against Hardee and fell 44-34. The Red Devils were down 41-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Avon Park's loss came about despite a quality game from Tytianna Allen, who posted 18 points and four steals. That was a full 52.9% of Avon Park's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Even though they lost, Avon Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Moore Haven beat LaBelle 42-37 on Wednesday.

Moore Haven is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Avon Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
