Softball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Antioch's Winning Streak

Antioch dropped their record down to 14-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McGavock Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-3 loss back in April.

Antioch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maliyah Perry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Kailan McClellan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for McGavock, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

On McGavock's side, Amanda Toth made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Toth has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Antioch will be taking part in a tournament against Cane Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ravens have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. McGavock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
