Lemon Bay and St. Petersburg Catholic played the most hotly contested game in 7A District 11 this week, with Lemon Bay eventually emerging with a 50-49 victory.

The Manta Rays led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Barons.

Charlotte's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brennan McGill threw for 275 and three touchdowns and Dwight Reynolds had 175 yards receiving. On the ground Clyde Newton chipped in 76 yards. Dwayne Reynolds helped Charlotte's passing attack out by catching four balls for 56 yards.

Charlotte's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Fightin' Tarpons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McGill has thrown for 593 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Reynolds has 16 catches for 290 yards. Newton leads the league in rushing with 901 yards.

Two of the top units in 7A District 11 will face off this week when the Fightin' Tarpons take on Gulf Coast. Charlotte's offense has scored 158 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Sharks have allowed only 168 on the year.

Binky Waldrop's team's Newton needs only 99 yards against Gulf Coast next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

There should be lots of points scored when the Fightin' Tarpons and Pete Formina's team face off this week.
