Softball Recap: Tavares' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Tavares had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Lake Minneola Hawks on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 20th.

Emersyn Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tavares' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Pattee, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Pattee has posted since back in April of 2024. Jasmine Lawrence was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

The victory got Tavares back to even at 7-7. As for Lake Minneola, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Tavares will challenge Mount Dora at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Minneola, they will face off against Belleview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
