Basketball Recap: Jordan Martinez Key Part of Team Effort in Caballeros Win

Flowing Wells took a 25-point defeat the last time they faced off against Sunnyside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Caballeros came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Devils on Saturday, sneaking past 70-68.

Flowing Wells' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Martinez, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards. Martinez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. O'Shay Walker was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Flowing Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexis Laguna Pesqueira, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Maddox Johnson, who earned 14 points.

Flowing Wells now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Sunnyside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Flowing Wells will face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sunnyside, they will square off against Nogales at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
