League recap: Wagner overpowering for Kimball in past week

Cody Wagner was the best pitcher in Valley Oak this week, leading Kimball. Over the past week, he had two wins and 25 Ks.

Oakdale (25-4, 14-0) is red-hot, having won 10 straight games, the longest such streak in the league. In the past week, the Mustangs won another two games, including a 4-2 victory over Vista del Lago and a 5-1 win over River City. Andy Morris led the lineup this week with three hits and three RBIs.

The Jaguars' dominant pitching staff finished their week with a league-high 62 strikeouts, but still trail Manteca for the season lead (185 Ks). Wagner leads Kimball with 47 strikeouts in 48 innings on the season.

Kimball scored 54 runs this week to lead the league, but the Mustangs are tops in runs scored this year, with 206.

Kris Bartlett led the league with 13 hits this week for Kimball. He is sixteenth in the league with 24 hits this year, and has a .421 batting average.



Justin Payne had a multi-hit game on Wednesday, when he went 4-4 in Sonora's 9-1 win against Ceres. He also drove in six runners and scored four runs.
