Mid-Indiana recap September 24, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Mid-Indiana this week, Hamilton Heights beat Eastern 54-6,. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Maconaquah moved up to 169 from 217 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Braves were able to move up by beating Western 28-18.
Hamilton Heights' dynamic duo of Monte Reed and Kellan Hughes proved tough for the Comets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Reed threw for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns and Hughes had 74 yards receiving. Grant Weatherford helped Hamilton Heights' passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 67 yards.
Mitch Street's team's dynamic duo of Reed and Hughes proved to be unstoppable against Eastern, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Cody Hicks provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Maconaquah bested the Panthers.
Hicks was a beast in the backfield as Mark Hartman's team beat Western.
Hicks was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 260 yards on 31 carries as the Braves bested Josh Edwards' team. Teammate Josh Fewell added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.
Reed put up the best numbers in passing as Hamilton Heights defeated the Comets.
Hughes was the best wideout in Mid-Indiana this week as the Huskies beat Eastern.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Hamilton Heights' Reed and Weatherford have proven to be a lethal combination. Reed has thrown for 1,009 yards this season, while Weatherford, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 24 catches for 617 yards. Maconaquah's Hicks leads the league in rushing yards with 772.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Western takes on second place Peru.
The Huskies took down the Comets 54-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Conner Faulkner ran for 228 yards during the win.
