Softball Recap: Plainfield Beats Greenwood for Their 19th Straight Victory

Plainfield waltzed into their match on Wednesday with 18 straight wins... but they left with 19. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Greenwood Woodmen a 13-0 shutout. The Quakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kami Arnett made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Arnett was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Sidney Parks looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Kenzi Arnett was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Krista Haberkorn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Plainfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Plainfield pushed their record up to 24-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Greenwood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19.

As of now, neither Plainfield nor the Woodmen have any future games scheduled.
