Volleyball Recap: Tuscola Mountaineers vs. North Buncombe Black Hawks
Tuscola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the North Buncombe Black Hawks. The Mountaineers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Black Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
While Tuscola ultimately came up short, they really made North Buncombe work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-23, 25-19.
Julia Wells paced Tuscola's offense, picking up five kills. Wells got some help from Larkin Conner and her 12 assists. Stella Yarrington controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Tuscola's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for North Buncombe, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Tuscola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Erwin on the 19th. As for North Buncombe, they will host Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
