Baseball Recap: Meek Wins Going Away Against Brilliant

Meek's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Brilliant with a sharp 15-4 win. For Meek, this counts as revenge for the 17-12 victory Brilliant walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

Dawson Beasley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Meek's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 4-2 (and 7-12 when he doesn't). Beasley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Meek got a massive performance out of Conner Lane, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Meek is 6-2 when Lane posts two or more runs, but 5-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan McCay, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Meek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meek pushed their record up to 11-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brilliant, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

As of now, neither Meek nor Brilliant have any future games scheduled.
