Soccer Game Preview: Perkins vs. Central Catholic

The Perkins Pirates will be taking part in a tournament against the Central Catholic Fighting Irish at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Perkins barely beat Crestview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Saturday. Considering Perkins have won nine matchups by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Lake on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Central Catholic's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 497th, while Lake are ranked 211th).

Perkins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those eight matches. Central Catholic's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-15.

Perkins took their win against Central Catholic in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 7-3 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Fighting Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
