Baseball Recap: Bland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Campbell

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bland). They blew past the Campbell Indians 17-5 on Friday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Matthew Leblanc and Max Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Leblanc tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Leblanc scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Rodriguez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Rodriguez has become a key player for Bland: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Matthew Gardner was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Dakota Blankenship was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Bland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campbell only posted an OBP of .273.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Campbell, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9-2.

Looking ahead, Bland will take on Sulphur Bluff at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sulphur Bluff's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Bland's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Campbell, they have already played their next contest, a 19-2 loss against Saltillo on the 24th.
