Baseball Recap: Itasca Beats Meridian for Their Third Straight Victory

Itasca entered their tilt with Meridian on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Yellowjackets. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Wampus Cats have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Brayden Mears was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Littlejohn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Itasca's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. As for Meridian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Itasca will have a chance to go back-to-back against Meridian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
