Baseball Recap: Del Sol Comes Up Short

Del Sol had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roadrunners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on Tuesday.

Tony Luna made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

As for Southeast Career Tech, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Southeast Career Tech's side, Briggs Barlow spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dominic Colarco, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Edwards, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Del Sol will head out to take on Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southeast Career Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Foothill at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Roadrunners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
