Baseball Recap: Depew Wildcats vs. Maryvale Flyers
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Depew and Maryvale have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Flyers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flyers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-5 on Wednesday.

Caleb Lorefice was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Lucas Spruch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
