At the plate, Colby Pudge was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Nick Coleman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Folsom's hitters rose to the challenge against a Honkers pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.82 runs allowed on Wednesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on Yuba City with a sharp 11-1 victory.
Luke Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Folsom: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 6-13 otherwise. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Hutton, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Folsom's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Gavin Tietz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Rocklin's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Folsom, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.
Everything went Rocklin's way against Folsom in their previous meeting last Thursday, as Rocklin made off with a 9-2 win. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
