Basketball Recap: Anna's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

McKinney North came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Anna, but R.J. Gardner wouldn't allow it. The Anna Coyotes pulled ahead with a 50-49 photo finish over the McKinney North Bulldogs on Friday thanks in part to Gardner, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high.

The victory snapped Anna's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-17 record. As for McKinney North, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-12.

Anna and McKinney North could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Anna will face off against Melissa at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 389 places (507 vs. 118). Meanwhile, McKinney North (ranked 374th) will meet Denison (ranked 160th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
