Basketball Game Preview: Aiken Fighting Green Hornets vs. South Aiken Thoroughbreds

The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets will square off against the South Aiken Thoroughbreds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Aiken is headed into Tuesday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were beaten by Fountain Inn 74-42 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, South Aiken earned a 45-36 victory over Midland Valley on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thoroughbreds.

South Aiken's win came from a few key players Aiken will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was A'Mya Robinson, who went 6 of 8 en route to 13 points along with six boards and three steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Myracle Culbreath was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

South Aiken smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

South Aiken now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Aiken, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Aiken beat South Aiken 52-42 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Aiken repeat their success, or does South Aiken have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
