Basketball Recap: Barr-Reeve Falls Despite Big Games from Paighton Parsons and Josie Knepp

Barr-Reeve extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a 51-37 bruising from the Orleans Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 50-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Barr-Reeve's loss came despite strong showings from Josie Knepp and Paighton Parsons. Knepp dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Parsons posted ten points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

As for Orleans, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points on average over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orleans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Callie Alston, who had 13 points along with six boards and three steals. Alston has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleigha Alston, who scored 13 points and five rebounds.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barr-Reeve will take on Tecumseh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will be up against the Braves' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Orleans, they will face off against Clarksville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Generals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
