Softball Game Preview: Deltona Wolves vs. Apopka Blue Darters

The Deltona Wolves will welcome the Apopka Blue Darters at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Deltona 0.6, Apopka 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Apopka's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Deltona hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Deltona's pitcher stepped up to hand Winter Springs a 1-0 shutout two weeks ago.

The result came thanks to Tessa Guenette's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Deltona saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amayah Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Apopka unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Brantley. The matchup marked the Blue Darters' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Alicia Lopez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Apopka's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Deltona, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Deltona has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Apopka struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Deltona was able to grind out a solid victory over Apopka in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 4-0. Does Deltona have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apopka turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
