Football Game Preview: Uxbridge Spartans vs. Oxford Pirates + How To Watch

The Uxbridge Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Oxford Pirates at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Uxbridge earned a 47-35 victory over Nipmuc Regional. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Warriors are ranked 192nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Oxford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 5th. They walked away with a 36-26 win over Bartlett on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

Uxbridge better keep an eye on Jack Grenier. He was instrumental in Oxford's win, rushing for 208 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Those 208 rushing yards gave Grenier a new career-high.

Uxbridge's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Oxford, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything came up roses for Uxbridge against Oxford when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 39-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
