Softball Recap: Bunker Hill Bears vs. East Burke Cavaliers

Bunker Hill waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the East Burke Cavaliers. Bunker Hill might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Serena Thurman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Thurman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive pitching appearances. Thurman was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Ivy Bowman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Kylie Killian was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

On East Burke's side, Kyndal Morrison was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double.

Bunker Hill pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for East Burke, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Bunker Hill will head out on the road to square off against West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
