Baseball Recap: Greenbrier East Starts Season with Loss at Home

Greenbrier East unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Hoover Huskies by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since April 6, 2024.

Greenbrier East saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Cochran, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenbrier East will face off against Woodrow Wilson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hoover, they will head out on the road to square off against Nitro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Hoover's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
