            Softball Preview: University Lab Cubs vs. Newman Greenies        
        
		
        
        
            The University Lab Cubs will head out to  face off against the Newman Greenies  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. University Lab has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
University Lab lost  18-3 to Parkview Baptist on Tuesday. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Newman, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Tuesday. They blew past McGehee 13-7 on Thursday. The Greenies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six  runs or more this season.
 Maryn Huber was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  tossed 1.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Felicity Drake was  incredible,  scoring three  runs while going 4-for-5. She also  hit two  doubles, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  London Lumpkins, who  went 1-for-3 with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  run.
 Newman  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 17  hits. That's the most  hits they've managed all season.
 University Lab's  defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-6. As for Newman, they now  have a winning record of 5-4.
