Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Aden Thiesse and Xavier Ledet Lead Cactus to Victory

Cactus came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They snuck past the Westview Knights with a 60-56 victory on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cobras' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Knights are ranked 81st).

Cactus was led to victory by Xavier Ledet and Aden Thiesse. Ledet went 8 of 19 en route to 21 points and five assists, while Thiesse almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Thiesse a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Deven Caleb, who posted eight points.

Cactus' victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Westview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cactus will venture away from home to face off against Peoria at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westview, they will head out to take on Agua Fria at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
