Softball Recap: Laurel Spartans vs. Beaver Bobcats
Laurel came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-5 to the Beaver Bobcats. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Maddie Evans made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Haley Balcom also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Even though they lost, Laurel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Laurel and Beaver will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Laurel is set to face off against their familiar foe Neshannock at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Beaver will square off against rival North Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
