Basketball Game Preview: Giddings Buffaloes vs. Columbus Cardinals

Giddings is 0-4 against Columbus since November of 2016 but things could change on Monday. After both having extra time off, both will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 11:15 a.m.

Last Tuesday, Giddings lost to East Bernard at home by a 53-34 margin. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1238th, while the Brahmas are ranked 425th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbus, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against Tidehaven by a score of 55-46 last Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their 21-point performance the matchup before.

Giddings' defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Columbus, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Giddings ended up a good deal behind Columbus when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 44-30. Thankfully for Giddings, Karlee Mathis (who made all 6 shots she took for 16 points along with six steals and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
