Preview: North Edgecombe Warriors vs. KIPP P Pride
North Edgecombe is 8-1 against KIPP P since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The North Edgecombe Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the KIPP P Pride at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
North Edgecombe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They lost to Warren County at home by a decisive 34-20 margin. North Edgecombe was down 34-8 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Michael Dickens, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, KIPP P fell victim to Weldon's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 38-0 loss at the hands of the Chargers. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, KIPP P couldn't push the score so high this time.
North Edgecombe's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.7 points per game. As for KIPP P, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for North Edgecombe against KIPP P when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 48-6 win. Does North Edgecombe have another victory up their sleeve, or will KIPP P turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
