Apple Valley won the last time they faced Serrano and things went their way on Friday too. The Sun Devils narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Diamondbacks 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sun Devils have posted against the Diamondbacks since April 15, 2024.

Gaven Roper looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.

Apple Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Serrano, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
