Game recap: Penn High School Football Team beats South Bend Riley

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Penn (Mishawaka, Ind.) saw its 11-point lead shrink to 10, but hung on to defeat South Bend Riley (South Bend, Ind.) 21-11 on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the second quarter, the Kingsmen were up 7-3 at the half.

Penn saw its 4-point halftime lead decrease to three entering the fourth.

With the win PHS extended its winning streak to eight games. Penn defeated South Bend St. Joseph 58-7 last week.

South Bend Riley's lone touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Brian Shaw in the third quarter.



The Mishawaka school came into the game allowing 2.0 points per game.

The defeat comes as a step back for South Bend Riley, who notched a 20-0 victory over Mishawaka Marian in its previous outing. The loss broke South Bend Riley's three-game winning streak.

Penn (8-0) will play a Northern Indiana game against Mishawaka next week, while South Bend Riley (4-4) will take on South Bend Clay also in a Northern Indiana game.
