Baseball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Fairview's Winning Streak

Fairview dropped their record down to 9-11 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 6-2 to the Green Bobcats. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 12-4.

As for Green, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.

For Green's part, Jonathan Knapp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Knapp has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Green let Blake Smith and Kase McIntyre run wild. Smith got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while McIntyre went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was McIntyre's first of the season.
