Baseball Recap: Deweyville Triumphs

Deweyville won the last time they faced Spurger and things went their way on Tuesday too. Deweyville came out on top against Spurger by a score of 8-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gunner Evans made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Evans was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Deweyville is 2-1 when Evans posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nathan Gallagher was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Deweyville's record is now 5-13. As for Spurger, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Deweyville will take on rival Big Sandy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Spurger is set to face off against their familiar foe Danbury at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
