Basketball Recap: Stoneman Douglas Piles Up the Points Against Forest Hill

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stoneman Douglas). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging an 80-44 win over the Forest Hill Falcons. With the Eagles ahead 47-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Leading Stoneman Douglas to victory were Derek Scheidt and Jacob Rayvis. Scheidt went 8-for-15 to rack up 17 points and seven assists, while Rayvis posted 11 points and five steals. That's the most steals Rayvis has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb VanBronkhorst, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 12 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Stoneman Douglas was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

The victory snapped Stoneman Douglas' losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. As for Forest Hill, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Stoneman Douglas will take on Monarch in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Forest Hill, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenacres Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
