Basketball Recap: Bigtyme Prep Academy Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

BigTyme Prep Academy waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 56-51 W against the Empowering Others Prep Kings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 74-63 back in January.

BigTyme Prep Academy was led to victory by Isaiah Stewart and Zion Ibekwe. Stewart dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Ibekwe went 8-for-12 on his way to 20 points and six boards. Ibekwe's evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jude Sarrett, who posted two points and three steals.

BigTyme Prep Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points over those games. As for Empowering Others Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-19.

Coincidentally, BigTyme Prep Academy and Empowering Others Prep will both be playing Xavier Educational Academy the next time they take the court. BigTyme Prep Academy will head out to face Xavier Educational Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Empowering Others Prep will host them at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
