Preview: Northfield Nighthawks vs. Lincoln Lancers
The Northfield Nighthawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lincoln Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Northfield, who comes in off a win.
Northfield can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 39-17 margin over Fort Morgan. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Northfield was the (much) better team in the second half.
Among those leading the charge was Christian Love, who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavious Chineth, who rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lincoln's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 63-0 loss at the hands of Holy Family. While losing is never fun, Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Holy Family is ranked 25th).
Northfield's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Lincoln, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Northfield against Lincoln when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 36-0 victory. Will Northfield repeat their success, or does Lincoln have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
