Basketball Game Preview: Kahuku Red Raiders vs. Moanalua Menehune

Kahuku and Moanalua are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Kahuku Red Raiders will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Moanalua Menehune at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Kahuku is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Westlake, who was ranked 12th in their home state at the time (Kahuku was ranked 18th). Kahuku took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westlake. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Moanalua was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Mililani by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Menehune have suffered since January 29th.

Moanalua's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Kahuku, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Kahuku against Moanalua in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 70-38 win. Will Kahuku repeat their success, or does Moanalua have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
