Bradenton Christian has gone 8-2 against Bayshore recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bradenton Christian Panthers will square off against the Bayshore Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Bradenton Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Bradenton Christian gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 11-7 victory over Saint Stephen's Episcopal.
Joey Puccia made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Bradenton Christian got a massive performance out of Garrett Duquette, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Duquette has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Connor Henderson, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Bradenton Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Bayshore posted their closest win since February 13th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Southeast 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Seminoles: they've now won four in a row.
Jordan Greene spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has become a key player for Bayshore: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 2-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Yadrian Velez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jashun Judge, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Bradenton Christian pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Bayshore, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bradenton Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bayshore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bradenton Christian beat Bayshore 4-1 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bradenton Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
