Basketball Recap: Falls Lake Comes Up Short

Falls Lake lost against Bunn back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falls Lake Firebirds were outmatched by the Bunn Wildcats and fell 68-30. The contest marked the Firebirds' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Bunn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from DJ Smith, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Those six assists gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Mann, who made all 6 shots he took to post 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Falls Lake dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bunn, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Falls Lake will take on Oxford Prep in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bunn, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wake Prep Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Bunn has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
