Basketball Recap: Neumann Regional Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Neumann Regional Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to the North Penn-Mansfield Tigers at home by a 61-47 margin on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Neumann Regional Academy still got an impressive performance from Daiton Thompson, who posted 21 points. The game was Thompson's third in a row with at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Legend Dillard, who scored nine points.

North Penn-Mansfield had a senior duo take command as Jason Harer dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards and Andy Hermansen shot 46% from the field to rack up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Patrick Youmans was another key player, putting up eight points.

Neumann Regional Academy and North Penn-Mansfield will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Golden Knights will challenge rival Bucktail at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, North Penn-Mansfield is set to face off against their familiar foe North Penn-Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
