Baseball Recap: Wasilla Takes Down Ranked West Valley

Wasilla faced West Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Warriors skirted past the Wolf Pack 7-6. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Jacob Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Delcour, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Whalen Havlerson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Wasilla pushed their record up to 9-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for West Valley, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Wasilla will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolf Pack: the pair will be back at it again later today.
