Softball Recap: Aptos Finds Playoff Glory Versus Ann Sobrato

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Aptos had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Mariners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Mya Najera-White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Fulton, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gwen Vaca, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Aptos hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive contests.

Aptos is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-11 record.

Coming up, Aptos will face off against Westmont at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ann Sobrato does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
