Flag Football Recap: Glenbrook South Finds Playoff Glory Versus Elk Grove

With a playoff win on the line, Glenbrook South rose to the challenge on Thursday. They skirted past the Elk Grove Grenadiers 20-18. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Titans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois flag football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Grenadiers are ranked 29th).

Glenbrook South found their leader in sophomore Alexis Erickson, who picked up five sacks and made seven total tackles. Kate Ptak was in the mix too, providing the Titans with two touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Glenbrook South's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Erickson and Taylor Binney, who racked up all seven sacks between them. Erickson has been hot for a while, having posted at least one sack the last nine times she's played.

The win made it two in a row for Glenbrook South and bumps their season record up to 15-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points over those games. As for Elk Grove, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-2.

Looking ahead, Glenbrook South will face off against Fremd at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' defense better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 27.2 points per game this season. Elk Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
