Basketball Recap: Evadale Comes Up Short

Evadale suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by the East Chambers Buccaneers 72-43. The defeat continues a trend for the Rebels in their meetings with the Buccaneers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Evadale's loss came despite strong showings from Jaxon Meredith and Brett Buckner. Meredith shot 71% from the field en route to 12 points, while Buckner almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Buckner also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Maxfield, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Evadale's record is now 1-3. As for East Chambers, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Evadale will be taking part in a tournament against Brookeland at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday. The Rebels will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for East Chambers, they will head out on the road to challenge Onalaska at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
