Softball Recap: Ennis Wins Going Away Against Corsicana

Ennis barely beat Corsicana the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Ennis was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Corsicana on Tuesday. Considering the Lions have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Breona Benavidez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaycee Slovak, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Analisa Salazar, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ennis' victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Corsicana, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Lions coming up. Kaufman has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.56 runs per game on average), something Ennis will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Corsicana, they will head out on the road to challenge Crandall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crandall will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Corsicana surely won't give up without a fight.
