Recap: Pima Roughriders vs. Holbrook Roadrunners
The Pima Roughriders put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Holbrook for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-6 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Pima, who have now won eight matchups by 29 points or more so far this season.
Jeremiah Martinez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 164 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 44 receiving yards. Martinez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Sam Ray also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Pima's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Brock Haws and his 2.5 sacks.
Pima's win was their 15th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Holbrook, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
Pima will be playing in front of their home fans against Tonopah Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Tonopah Valley's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests. Holbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
